Pikmin 3 Deluxe Becomes Best-Selling Entry to The Series in Japan

Despite beingness fantastic games, the Pikmin series has never been one of Nintendo's top sellers. The cutesy real-time strategy titles offering something a little dissimilar for Nintendo, while still bursting with their signature charm. Despite this, they've oft failed to capture the mass-marketplace's appreciation like some of Nintendo's heavier hitters.

Things may be looking up for Nintendo and their army of fiddling plant people however as it's at present been confirmed that the most recent title, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, is the all-time selling Pikmin game of all time in Japan. The port of the Wii U title has eclipsed the original game's lifetime sales, despite only beingness out for piddling more than a couple of months.

According to Nintendo Everything Pikmin 3 Deluxe has sold over 513,000 units in Japan since launch, overtaking the original Pikmin championship which sits at 502,000 units. Comparatively, the Wii U version of Pikmin 3 sold only over 232,000 copies. Hey! Pikmin is the lowest selling entry into the franchise, with the 3DS game shifting a meagre 157,000 units.

Hopefully, seeing these impressive numbers and the potential demand for a brand new Pikmin adventure, this gives Nintendo the impetus to go on and make a 4th entry into the series. Pikmin iv was rumoured to be in development as far back as 2022, however, nothing has materialised on the game since then, despite Shigeru Miyamoto suggesting otherwise.

We loved the game in our official Pikmin 3 Deluxe Review, scoring it a very respectable 8/10, saying: "I couldn't recommend this game plenty for those who accept never played a Pikmin game. The third entry just has a certain period to it that is unmatched from its predecessors and as well contains some of the best boss battles in the series."

The game is out now for the Nintendo Switch.
